Picnic in the Park – A Potluck Dinner Late in August, on a Saturday afternoon, the aroma of barbeque wafts through the air as the town of Cedaredge and the Cedaredge Chamber of Commerce host the annual “Picnic in the Park”. City Park fills with folks wanting to have a good time and a great meal. The barbeque is free and those attending bring the side dishes and desserts. The tables in the pavilion are soon covered with a huge array of mouth-watering delights and the “serious” eating begins. Just when everyone thinks they’ll burst if they have one more bite, the David Starr Band begins to play. Always a crowd pleaser, the band gets everyone clapping and swaying to the music. It isn’t long until shoes are kicked off, kids are turning cartwheels and people are dancing in front of the bandstand. As nightfall comes, happy, tired, and very full people make their way home after a wonderful day of fun, food and music.
