“Do You Wanna Dance?”
If you enjoy dancing, you’ll want to mark your calendar with the four Chamber hosted dances. We kick off the year with the “SnowBall” in January, then in April put on the “Spring Fling!” Both of these events are Community dances, and are free to the public. They take place at the Cedaredge Community Center, and we accept donations at the door for the Community Center Renovation Project. This year at the SnowBall we raised a little over $1,000 including a wonderful donation of $500 from Oxbow Mine! This year, 2011, is the first year for these two dances, and with the overwhelming response from the local residents, we’re looking forward to 2012!
On July 9th, you’ll find everyone ‘dancing in the street’ the weekend of Little Britches Rodeo! We close down a couple of blocks on Main Street, put a stage at one end and a mechanical bull at the other. All the local shops stay open late, and there is food, drink and ice cream available all night long! It’s a guaranteed evening of great music, dancing and athletic challenge if you dare to hop on the back of the bull. In all actuality, the mechanical bull is safe for all ages, but if you’re up for a real ride, just let them know! This truly is a family fun-filled event; be sure not to miss out on the “Street Dance!”
Lastly, we have the “Golden Gala” on September 30th. This dance has traditionally been part of the AppleFest celebration for many years. It takes place on the Friday night just before the festival weekend, and this year will be no different. We always look forward to the fantastic dance music of The David Starr Band, an elegant buffet dinner, plus a beer and wine bar. So, if you are looking for an occasion to get dressed up…this is it! You’ll see folks in their formal gowns and tuxedos, along with folks casually dressed in their blue jeans. There is no dress code, just whatever you’re most comfortable wearing; the most important part is to be there!
